Personality:
Shouten is extremely serious and mature for his age, and has great self-control. He is also somewhat cold and arrogant. He is a calm, collected, and solitary person, who is quite mysterious, as he rarely speaks. He is portrayed as being somewhere between merely stoic and matter-of-fact, rarely ever smiling or showing emotion at all; In battle, he is able to stay relatively calm in most situations and carefully look at the situation at hand. He has shown himself to be a bit stubborn, such as begrudgingly taking orders from Yama or Nozomi, he dislikes being told what to do. He also proves to be able to understand his team-mates' inner workings, sensing when the slightest of things is wrong with either of them. Although he doesn’t say it, he cares a great deal about Kingyo and Yama, enough to throw himself in front of them to protect them. He dislikes being pitied because of his blindness.

Background:
Shouten was born with two blind eyes. He had been pitied as a child with potential however a dangerous setback which would prevent him from ever becoming a shinobi. Shouten had always been bitter about the fact that he cannot see however he never allowed it to be something that would hinder his goal of becoming the strongest shinobi in Yukigakure. Shouten was born inside the Snow Village however his parents passed away from the Third Shinobi World War and he was placed in a government-owned orphanage. Shouten, despite his disability, showed great skill in genjutsu. He and Yama were discreetly taken out of class after they graduated. Being the first orphans to graduate from the Academy, and were soon placed under the care of Mugen Nozomi, a mysterious jounin under the council. Afterwards, they were assigned to escort Kingyo to the Konoha chuunin exams. After the chuunin exams, Yama, Shouten and Kingyo return to the Snow Village to resume their training. However, he later migrates to Konoha after the collapse of the Snow Village.

Abilities:
In battle, Shouten is able to make great use of his intelligence, being able to use his analytical, and observational skills to make shrewd decisions with pinpoint reasoning. Like Shikamaru Nara, Shouten prevails in battles by systematically staying several steps ahead of the enemy, as well as keeping a good distance away to avoid enemy attacks. He uses his sharp hearing to sense his opponent’s movements, or using his immense concentration to sense chakra signals. Shouten can regonise someone’s chakra type and pattern through a single glance—an ability only granted by his lack of sight. This helps him and his team-mates recongise if they can defeat the enemy or not.
Shouten carries a long, lethal umbrella with him as his main weapon. The umbrella spans out longer than a meter and carries mirrors on the inside which can be launched into the ground. The mirrors are controlled by Shouten’s chakra and act as bodies for his genjutsu. Shouten’s signature genjutsu is using his planted mirrors to create clones of himself, and then attacking, or using these clones to transform into the enemy’s loved ones to manipulate their emotions. However, once the mirrors shatter, the jutsu also breaks. His umbrella also carries a katana which he is also skilled in using.

Appearance:
Shouten is very, very tall for males his age. He stands so high that it is somewhat overbearing to others. Along with his blunt nature, not many can stand to be around him. However, Kingyo notes that, “Shouten has a very kind face,” although not many are tall enough to see it or can be around him long enough to. Shouten has long, black spiky hair usually tied in a ponytail. His skin is fair, as per usual of someone from the Snow Village, and his eyes are small and white with no pupils.

After the time skip, Shouten grows his hair longer and he becomes much taller. However, he doesn't restrain himself too much from speaking and has a "kinder face". He discards his umbrella too.
